Why Don’t You?

Each time that I take a look through the catalog of past blog posts here on Forged in Fire, I’m overcome with a few different thoughts and feelings.

  1. It has become quite the collection of thoughts put to paper.
  2. The mass of it all stands as a great reminder to me of the importance of habitual actions, which I coincidentally talked about at length pretty recently.
  3. A lot of the posts are quite similar, aren’t they?

The final of the three points laid out here are what is most prevalent to me in the current moment. While this platform is certainly made up of a few core concepts, it has never been my intention to spew the same jargon repeatedly.

Is that what I’ve been doing? Voicing the same few ideas through the dozens of posts that have now come to be?

I’ve spent some time reflecting, and the conclusion I’ve come to is this:

In many ways, the answer is yes.

The few primary view-points that I established this platform by are in fact what I choose to carry into what I decide to write about. After all, the entire basis of this whole thing is just that: writing about whatever I decide – whatever it may be that is on my mind at any given time.

There is no bias. No pandering to the opinions of others. No desire to impress or draw an audience beyond those who resonate with what I have to say.

I began this thing out of a place of love for writing itself and taking my all-too-active brain outside of its comfort zone by putting the many thoughts out into the world.

Nothing more, nothing less.

In reminding myself of this, I have been better able to make sense of why so many of my blog posts revolve around similar topics – because that is what holds great importance in my life. These are the things that fill my mind and heart on the daily.

A few months ago, I wrote about sovereignty, and how I as a young father and husband perceive its importance in my life. As a matter of fact, I touched on it a couple of times – here and here.

Sovereignty, in essence, is the act of living freely – unphased and unaffected by outside voices, forces and trends. I like to think of it as traversing this life in the ways I wish, voicing the opinions I hold in high regard, acting in the best interest of myself in my family without fear of the masses in opposition.

This, I believe, is something that many of us aspire to. A way of living that the great majority would trade for the latter, which is, of course, living (and speaking) in accordance with societal norms which seem to be the only ticket to a place of prestige and reverence in the world we call home. Saying only what others want to hear. Acting only in ways that are accepted by the general populace. Keeping up with the Jones’ until you’re blue in the face – quite literally.

Why?

It doesn’t have to be like this for you, and the way I am working tirelessly to operate is living proof of such a sentiment.

Sure, it has been a leap, but one that I’ve felt called to take.

One can only imagine that, even if deep down, you’d like to do the same – so, why don’t you?

Forge on.
