What Is Your Story?

Since my last blog post, we celebrated what I consider to be the most important holiday on our calendar each year – Easter Sunday.

My relationship with the holiday, and with Christianity in general has quite admittedly been nothing shy of a bumpy road over these years I’ve spent above ground.

That said, as I grow as a man, husband and father, I continually grow deeper in my faith and have begun to immerse myself in the many stories written throughout the Holy Bible – of which there are aplenty. The most important and extraordinary of course being the Easter Story.

To prevent a full-blown rambling tangent and possibly incoherent and (probably) inaccurate recounting of the events that took place, here is an awesome animated video that breaks everything down in less than 7 minutes.

In reflecting a great deal on this epic story, and its lasting effects on the people of this earth for what has now been thousands upon thousands of years, within me sparked a thought bubble on my own story, and the story of those around me.

We all have a “story,” don’t we? The story of our lives. The story that we share with our children and our children’s children.

No matter who you are, where you’re from, what you’ve seen or what you’ve done – this life you live, start to finish, is a story that can and will be told likely for generations at the very least.

Think about it – you know a story or two that you’ve told or that you’ve heard from those who came before you. Your great grandfather or that aunt who you never met but you know the stories of the lives they lived.

There’s power in that, don’t you think?

There is a crazy weight in this existence of yours, the actions you take and even in those that you don’t take, that last long after you’ve left this earth.

All of this to say, what is your story? What will it be, or what do you WANT it to be?

Of course, where we are now isn’t (or, at least it shouldn’t be) exactly where we will be 30 years from this moment. So, where will that be? What will that look like? What storyline will take you from here to there?

I invite you to take some time to ponder these questions, and what it means for the life that lay ahead for you.

Over the next few weeks, I intend to tell some pretty epic stories from my own life that have compiled to create the version of the man that stands here today. The good, the ugly and everything in between because, why not?

Until then, try to drum up some of your own. Even those that might be hard to bring back to the surface. There is value in it all.
